Consumers are a vital stakeholder group for dental and vision insurers, but predicting their engagement with dental and vision products is never easy. Humans are human, and there are gaps between consumer perceptions and their behavior. To provide specialty benefits payers and stakeholders with data-driven understanding of consumer perceptions, SKYGEN has released its 2023 Pulse Report.

Developed in coordination with Hanover Research, SKYGEN’s 2023 Pulse Report offers insights based on 5,000 U.S. consumer responses to queries about their thoughts on specialty providers, utilization of benefits, and the value of dental and vision insurance.

Key findings of the research include:

  • Coverage discrepancies – there are notable differences in coverage across dental, vision, and medical insurance.
  • Decision-making factors – the perceived value of dental and vision coverage is a wildcard in the mix of factors including cost, convenience and accessibility, that influence insurance coverage purchase and utilization.
  • Future intentions – consumers are specific about plan features they prioritize and their intent to purchase dental and vision insurance in the next 24 months.

“Understanding what consumers think and feel about dental and vision insurance is critical information for SKYGEN and our clients,” said Holly Carter, SKYGEN Director of Product Marketing. “We’re using the robust data coming out of this report to help shape the continuous specialty benefits innovation we provide to our clients. We invite them to leverage this data as well as they grow their business and develop insights into the customer experience of the future.”
