Access to vision care remains a critical challenge across many parts of the world. SKYGEN International Foundation is working to address this need by bringing screenings and prescription glasses to communities in Tanzania and Kenya, where access to vision care is extremely limited. Our most recent trip to Tanzania demonstrates the scale of the challenge and the transformative impact of this work. The U.S. team visits annually, while our local team continues holding vision clinics year-round.

At the Born to Learn Academy in Moshi, students begin learning valuable life skills as early as age three. During our November 2025 visit, 333 students, teachers, and local residents received vision screenings, and 241 pairs of glasses were distributed. After our U.S. team completed our clinics, our Tanzania team continued testing the more than 700 students who were not reached that day. This ongoing effort reflects our commitment to making vision care more accessible, ensuring that more people of all ages have the opportunity to receive the support they need.

Our 2025 Work in Moshi and Arusha

In Arusha, the Foundation’s team of volunteers dedicated 10 hours to screening 375 people and distributing 344 pairs of glasses. The demand was overwhelming, and while not everyone could be served, the impact was immediate for those who received care. Clear vision enables children to succeed in school, parents to support their families, and elders to remain active in their communities.

Across six clinics in Tanzania in November 2025, the U.S. team tested a total of 1,856 people and distributed 1,628 pairs of glasses. These numbers represent more than statistics—they reflect futures changed and lives improved. In 2025, we provided just shy of 55K vision tests and over 31K pairs of prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses.

Big Milestone: In 2025, we provided distributed our 100,000th pair of glasses!

Partnerships are central to this mission. SKYGEN International Foundation is grateful to Albwardy Investments, a new partner whose generosity allowed screenings to be held in their hotel. Their support, along with that of other partners, makes it possible to reach hundreds of thousands of people with life-changing care. Every screening, every pair of glasses, and every smile brings us closer to a world where access to vision care is universal.

Join us in this mission. Whether through partnership, support, or advocacy, you can help expand access to vision care for communities in need. Visit skygenfoundation.org to learn more and discover how you can make a difference today.
